In 1958 five young entrepreneurs decided to start their adventure. It was at the very beginning of an unforgettable period where Italy’s car boom was really starting to take off and the economic boom was about to take place..
As they had always been interested in making engines, on 7th January they founded Scalfi & C., with its head office right in the town centre of Milan, and they became representatives for compressed air equipment and industrial engines.
Two of them in particular, engineer Silvano Carmassi and my father Stefano Maffi, kept up their struggles and their belief in the project for many years.
Fifty years went by from that heroic debut to the present CTM, Compagnia Tecnica Motori, a leading company operating in all of the world markets. Even though today we are involved in a lot of different activities, the company leadership focuses on manufacturing generating sets and fire fighting pumps and merchandising industrial and marine engines.
Determined to meet new requirements, the company structure has modernized, with a young management team coming from the company itself.
Being ready to try new things, maintaining awareness of environmental issues and of the importance of sustainable development, paying attention to emerging markets, alongside achieving technological excellence and satisfying the customer’s needs are all principles that CTM believes in.
In other words the current beliefs are no different from those believed by my father and his brave partners fifty years ago on a cold morning in Milan.
